2014 Welcome to Retirement!
2014 New Retirees
Our first annual Welcome to Retirement Reception for new retirees was held on June 19, 2014 at the Cowell Provost's House (thank you Provost Crosby!). A festive group of 70 people enjoyed a beautiful day on the lawn while we mingled and talked about our retirement plans with friends and colleagues. The reception was an opportunity for the newly retired and the "already retired" to talk about what retirement is like, what to expect, and how to enjoy this wonderful time in our lives.
Mike Rotkin and Nick Royal treated us to beautiful background music. Susan Willats from TAPS had applications for our free retiree parking permits and bus passes. Representatives from Staff Human Resources were on hand with information about health care options. Nancy Pascal from the Silver Slugs, Michael Cowan from the Emeriti Association, and Fiona Weigant from the Staff Advisory Board each welcomed guests and talked about their respective organizations.
Chancellor Blumenthal congratulated the new retirees and presented each with a retiree certificate, celebrating their years of service to the campus. As a special treat to all of us from the 1960's and 1970's, founding Vice Chancellor Hal Hyde was with us to celebrate.
