July 5, 2014 Beach Cleanup
Enthusiasm and energy levels were high at the July 5th Star Spangled Banner Beach Cleanup event sponsored by Save Our Shores (SOS). Twenty Silver Slugs and their family/friends gathered at 8:00 am to join other SOS volunteers at Seabright Beach. Many of us were very surprised to see how little trash there was to pick up. We later learned that July 4th beach-goers had been given trash bags with instructions to pack out their trash. What a great idea! But there was still enough left on the beach to keep us busy. It was a wonderful way to support our community and spend time working, walking and talking with fellow retirees.
