April 2015 Filoli Gardens Tour

Thirty Silver Slugs enjoyed the exquisite Filoli gardens and mansion together on Friday, April 10--a beautiful, sunny day.  Our docent treated us to wonderful stories about the Filoli owners, local history and how the grounds came to be.  We learned how Filoli got its name:  Original owner, Wiliiam Bourn, took the first two letters from key words of his credo:  “FIght for a just cause; LOve your fellow man; LIve a good life.”

There were so many visual delights and wonderful scents filling the air!  The wisteria, tulips, forget-me-nots, daffodils and peonies were in their full glory.  Roses were getting ready to burst into theirs.

Gardens Tour

After our small group tours of the house and gardens, many took advantage of the charming indoor-outdoor cafe to have delightful lunches and conversation.  The photographers in our group were in heaven.  Please enjoy these photos and put next year on your calendar. We plan to make this an annual event!
